FROM OUR president
Arts Educators are innovators.
I believe in the power of the arts to lead our youth in becoming active agents.
I began the Canady Foundation for the Arts in 2015 with a vision to empower youth of color to see their own brilliance and excellence. I know the power of the arts because the arts saved my life. Art gave me purpose, confidence, direction and value in myself and history. I want to give that back to the next generation.
Our mission is to empower at-risk DMV (DC, MD, VA) youth to become change agents in their own communities through cultural creativity, citizenship, scholarship and entrepreneurship.
CFA's vision is for youth of color to develop confidently into healthy productive members of society who can grow and sustain a quality of life as well as positively impact their communities through representation and financial well-being.
HOW WE DO IT:
We curate culturally conscious programming for our partner schools and organizations, directly serving their needs. Led by professional teaching artists of color, we provide high quality arts education program by working industry professionals.
